What to Expect
From your central Marrakech hotel, a vehicle picks you up and the tour commences proper by 10 am in company of your private guide. Your private transport heads to the sprawling edifice of the Koutoubia Mosque, Marrakech's largest mosque, with its towering 253-foot (77-meter) high minaret, which can be seen from miles away.
The tour then takes you to the luxurious and verdant Menara Gardens to soak in spectacular views of the hulking Atlas Mountains in the distance while strolling through the botanical gardens. Next, you go to the 15th-century Saadian Tombs where Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur was buried. You do not want to miss the wanton opulence of the Bahia Palace with its intricate combination of Islamic and Moroccan architecture. Then refuel your stomach with a hearty Moroccan lunch at a local restaurant.
The afternoon tour takes you through Marrakech's walled old quarter and its extensive Djemaa el-Fna square, Loiter around here to see the locals carry out daily activities; enjoy the sight of snake charmers, acrobatics, belly dancers, and have a feel of the authentic street food (own expense).
